Digital Literacy involves teachers and students as they seek to learn how to use technology on a basic level and then learn how to use it in an appropriate fashion. Teachers must first be trained in the way to use the technology available to them in the most effective teaching methodology. After teachers have a strong understanding of how to use the technology, they must be taught how to teach their students the proper use of that technology to learn and to demonstrate learning. Students need to be digitally literate for their future success and safety, equally alongside standard forms of literacy (such as reading, writing and mathematics). It is the school's duty to prepare students for their futures through teaching them to be digitally literate.
